“Veronika” EP is both digital and physical, CD, release.

The CD comes in a limited edition of 300 copies, in a custom-made, full colour cardboard sleeve, in a 7" single format. The image comes from an original oil painting from a private collection, by the 1930's Italian futurist painter, Gino Pancheri.

The idea was to release a complete work of art, as it used to be done, when the sleeves would add a visual concept and artistic value to the music and would be often considered a “collector's” item.

Thus, by getting the physical release on a CD, you will get a reproduction of a rare and beautiful painting (that can be also hanged on the wall!) and the music.

Furthermore, by the purchase of the physical release on a CD, you will also get the “gift” …. for the free download of the digital release.

Last but not least, by the purchase of the physical release , you are contributing to the making of the original musical titled “Beyond the Horizon”, that will contain some if not all the songs from the current EP “Veronika”

On Veronika, the author

A singer songwriter, composer, poet, music, film and theater producer, born in Belgrade (Serbia), but who lived for many years in Italy, and a few years in Germany, a few months Austria and once upon a time, even in China.
I sing for God, for you and me, for true Life, Truth and Love.
My main instruments are my voice and piano, but I often enjoy playing and recording as Hammond organ player.
I've been very much influenced by British and American soul, blues and rock 'n' roll music of the 60's, 70's,often on the alternative side (like British freak-beat and psychedelia, mod music, norther soul,s punk rock etc.). This is where my heart starts beating loud ! I'm also very much a 80's new wave gal , and 90's garage baby. I can pick up a few great bands, from the 2000's. However, I'm no stranger to the hard core 50's R'n'R and classical music!
Therefore, I like to think of my music as deeply eclectic. Trying to find, some time ago, a genre name to it, I found that “nostalgic rock”, with a touch of personalized soul & blues, would describe it pretty well.
All of my songs have an eclectic quality, also because they are written in several languages: Serbian, English, Italian and French. Usual, it is the song itself, that "chooses" the language, and the themes are always Love, in a larger, even metaphysical, sense, as the foundation and the reason of our existence and relationships.
Currently, Veronika is on a full creative wave, working on my first singer-songwriter album "Close Encounters" in collaboration with outstanding musicians and imaginative artists from Serbia and Italy. EP “Veronika” is a part of that music project.

A few more notes....
I've been making, recording and producing music over 25 years with two bands, co-founded by Rob Falsetti (Rome, Italy) and myself, namely “The Migrators” and “About The Future”.
Rob Falsetti has been a long term partner in the music calling and adventure. We have co-written, co-arranged, and co-produced all of our bands' music and released it on several albums and singles.
Last, but not least, Rob and I are owners and creative directors of the production company Shaking Foundations Multimedia, based in Berlin (Germany), with which we have produced, staged and filmed, two originally written and composed rock operas: “Goodbye Uncle” (staged in Rome in 2006) and “Dolomitenfront” (produced both as a rock film in 2016 and staged as live performance in 2018 in northern Italian Alps, the Dolomites).

Viva la musica, the expression of the soul and friendship!

On title track “Veronika” - the story behind

I took up a novel, quite short by the number of pages, titled "Veronica decided to die" by a well known Brazilian novelist, Paulo Coelho.
On the first few pages, I read about a young woman from Ljubljana (Slovenia), who commits suicide in her rented room, because she no longer sees a reason to live. By the way, quite amazing Paulo Coelho decided to set the story and the protagonist in maybe one of the smallest countries in the world!
In that dramatic situation, while waiting for the pills to take effect, Veronica is flipping through the french magazine "Le Monde", and comes across an article talking about Slovenia, finding out that the journalist actually does not know where Slovenia is. This makes Veronica really mad and she decides to write a letter to the editor, complaining about their ignorance, while laughing to herself, thinking that when she is found dead, it may be presumed that she killed herself because a jounalist did not know where Slovenia was. This makes the whole scene tragicomic.
At that very point I started crying and while my tears were falling I feverishly sat down and started writing the lyrics, which were written in 5 minutes! Then I rushed to my Viscount DB organ and the moment I put my hands on it, the whole song came out, in a stream, in Serbian, my mother tongue.
This is a song that speaks about the country I was born in - ex Yugoslavia. It tells in just a few words of a deep wound that remained among several generations of ex-YU people who experienced the violent breakup of the country in the 1990's. The disintegration of Yugoslavia - inexplicable from a rational, let alone a spiritual point of view, took place through a horrible fratricidal civil war. For people who grew up in a place where rock 'n' roll was the most popular music, where the largest cities: Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Sarajevo, were everyone's "second home",where the same, or a very similar language was spoken, where the greatest number of marriages were mixed, that was a huge shock and blow.
This is how Veronica of Coelho's novel became my own Veronika, and a much wider symbol of a yearning for real sense of life, without compromise, for that “truth without mask”, for that love “that is no more”. And maybe even something bigger than love we know as such...
I remembered and felt the need to introduce one more Veronika within the chorus of the song, a Veronika that is so well known in Christian tradition. In one of the Gospels, it is the woman who met Jesus Christ while he was carrying the cross on his back to Golgotha to be crucified, under the hot Jerusalem sky, among a crowd of people -beaten, bloody, stumbling... Veronika came up to him and wiped the bloody sweat away from his forehead.
Her name and image have remained forever remembered through that, apparently secondary, but infinitely important, episode. Her simple and brave jest, in spite of personal helplessness, reveals the depth of compassion a single person is capable of, in the face of something inevitable imminent, violent, like an unjust death of a fellowman.
Last but not least, Paulo Coelho's novel “Veronica decided to die”, is inspiring a larger music project ,which is currently in progress. That is a musical titled “Beyond the Horizon”, you will hear and read more about on Shaking Foundations Multimedia website and social networks .
